The central goal of this project is the development of a mobile application which enables the final consumers to become an active part of the energy system. Their inclusion hugely increasese the information at hand and allows to optimize energy planning for buildings, quarters and their energy systems. The mobile application builds on gamification to educate the users and to empower them to reduce their energy consumption, based on their bahaviour-forecast in combinaton with smart-home and IoT (internet of thins) appliances. Doing so they generate additional information and data which is used to optimize control of the overlying enegry system and grid.

The application is developed in a highly interdisciplinary manner and includes high-end mathematical simulation and optimiziation algorithims but also psychological aspects of user behaviour in order to develop new business cases and enter new markets. It goes without saying that the development follows strictest protocols in order to guarantee data privacy protection. Also the application will be tested in an empirical pilot study under real-world conditions.

In this research project (funded by the FFG) the dwh GmbH partners with the University Graz, Technical University Graz as well as Technical University Vienna.
