FISU World University Games 2025
The dwh will be at the FISU World University Games 2025! Well, at least some of us will be…
Kilian Meusburger, an employee at dwh GmbH, has been playing badminton since he was six years old and was a member of the Austrian national team for many years. In order to focus on his studies, he ended his international competitive sports career and completed his bachelor’s degree in statistics. He is currently studying data science at TU Wien while working full-time.
This year, he and his partner Ilija Nicolussi won the Austrian vice-championship title in men’s doubles. He will also compete with him at the FISU World University Games, and Kilian will also compete in the mixed doubles competition.
The World University Games are an international multi-sport event for students, inspired by the Olympic Games. They take place every two years and bring together around 8,500 athletes from over 150 countries. This year, the event will take place from July 16 to 27 in the Rhine-Ruhr region of Germany. From July 22 to 26, we will all be keeping our fingers crossed, as that is when the individual badminton competitions will take place.
Kilian will represent Austria alongside another woman and another man, an honour of which he is very proud. Although he still plays for his home club in the Austrian First Division, he no longer trains with the same intensity as he did when he was on the national team. Therefore, his focus is not on winning, but on enjoying and experiencing being part of such a major multi-sport event.
